All Locked Up

Valentine card using Heartthob set from CZDesign and Lawn Fawn cardstock.

It's always fun to get a new stamp set! Today I'm playing with a new one from Cathy Zielske, HEARTTHROB.

I used Lawn Fawn's Halftone Hearts Nesting dies to create a silhouette from red cardstock and the heart insert from Lawn Fawn's Knit Picky cardstock, like I used for the Hats Off Birthday card. I heat embossed the lock in silver, cut out the handle and inserted it into a small slit I made in the patterned heart.  I popped up the hearts with foam dots.

Watercoloring with Distress Oxides

Altenew Lotus Blossom stamp, Lawn Fawn frame die.

For this card I wanted to do some watercoloring, so I stamped with Altenew's Lotus Blossom on heavyweight watercolor paper, then watercolored using distress oxide inks. The sentiment is from Altenew's Simple Flowers stamp and die set. I stamped on black cardstock and heat embossed with gold powder. The frame is from Lawn Fawn, which I cut from yellow cardstock and mounted on Neenah solar white.

For another version, I diecut one of the flowers, watercolored again with distress oxides, and popped it on top of the original stamped flower. I added some Nuvo drops and pearls, along with a few swishes of Wink of Stella.

I'm going to enter this in Altenew's January Inspiration Challenge.

Hats Off Birthday

I made this little card for two challenges, Simon Says Stamp's "Patterned Paper" challenge for Wednesday, and Splitcoaststampers' CAS challenge "Hats Off."  I always forget to use the patterned paper from my overflowing scrapbooking stash, mainly because I like working with inks and watercolors on my cards. This paper is a new addition to my collection, Lawn Fawn's Knit Picky 6x6 petite paper pack. For the heart I used Altenew's Halftone Hearts Nesting Dies which I bought myself for Christmas!

Koalaty Time stamp set from Sugar Pea Designs
The cute little koala was from a limited edition from Sugar Pea Designs that Simon Says Stamp offered back in the fall (sorry!). I stamped with Versamark onyx ink then embossed with clear embossing powder before coloring in with Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. Then I cut them out with the matching dies (I've been obsessed with die cutting lately!) and popped them up with some foam dots. The sentiment was also stamped and embossed. Finally, I just had to add some bling with a couple Nuvo drops and Wink of Stella sparkle, that unfortunately doesn't show in the picture. I didn't have any red Nuvo drops, but, voila, the clear crystal ones absorbed the red from the alcohol markers, a happy accident!

Thanks for checking this out!
